Compare two Excel or CSV versions by a unique ID

Compare recurring exports to see what changed between two versions. PDFEazy matches records by a column you choose and produces a table of added, removed and changed values. The files are processed locally.

Compare versions

  1. Import the earlier and later XLSX or CSV files.
  2. Select the earlier sheet, choose Compare two versions, then select the later sheet.
  3. Choose a unique matching key such as Invoice ID or SKU. Both sheets need the same retained column names; their order can differ.
  4. Review any saved-formula or hidden-data warnings. Remove columns that should not be compared or shared.
  5. Create the result. The summary counts added, removed, changed and unchanged records. Download the detailed change table.

Why must the key be unique?

Two invoices with the same ID make a match ambiguous. PDFEazy rejects duplicate or empty keys instead of guessing which row corresponds to which. Correct the source data or prepare a deliberate unique key in Excel first.

What counts as a change?

Comparison uses exact values and types after optional trimming. Numeric 1 and text “1” are different. It does not infer equivalent currencies, round amounts, match approximate names or compare formatting. Each changed cell shows its column, earlier value and later value. Added and removed records have one output line per retained column.

Can I prove the change history?

You can opt into a separate change record with source and output fingerprints and row references. It verifies agreement with the saved files, not who authored them or whether their contents are correct. Keep your original versions.
