Group spreadsheet rows and calculate exact decimal totals

Use Group & total for a small, repeatable summary such as invoice amounts by team or order counts by category. PDFEazy produces a separate summary table with the source files unchanged.

Create a summary

  1. Import a table and choose its sheet.
  2. Choose Group & total, then select a category column.
  3. Choose Count rows only, or select a plain decimal amount column.
  4. Apply a text filter or whitespace trimming if needed.
  5. Create and inspect the summary. Download it as Excel, CSV, JSON or an eligible PDF.

How are amounts added?

Totals use exact decimal arithmetic, so 0.10 plus 0.20 yields 0.30 without a binary floating-point rounding artifact. Inputs may have up to six decimal places and 18 digits. Decimal totals are exported as text to preserve the result exactly.

What happens to missing or ambiguous amounts?

Empty values are excluded from the total, and Values counted shows how many amounts contributed. A group with no amounts gets an empty total rather than zero. Currency symbols, grouping separators, exponent notation and ambiguous numeric text are rejected. Prepare those values explicitly in Excel first.

What the summary does not establish

It does not validate accounting, convert currencies or confirm that every row uses the same unit. Grouping uses exact typed values. Review categories and source meanings before relying on a total. An optional change record lists the contributing source rows.
